update

Been a while since I last updated. Haven't done a lot of fishing myself. Just a few visits to Bukit Jalil and Pulau Meranti payponds. Results wasn't that great, so no pictures. Two visits to Kuala Lukut jetty worth mentioning. AC, Paul and me. Even though fishes caught were small, but it's a new experience. You'll never know what is going to be at the end of the line. Planning to go kelong at the same place in 2 weeks time. Hopefully weather will be good, and plenty of good size fishes.

Fish Valley, 5 March 2011

A half day trip. Reached FV at 3.30pm with AC and PakNgah. Jimmy and TJS were already there. Chat for a while and apparently bites were slow. Me and PakNgah set up side by side at AC Bamboo Grove while AC sat beside Jimmy and TJS.

I launched the first cast baited with hot dogs bought from mamak. PakNgah used his mix of dedak and got a leekoh. The hotdog bait was taken while I was chatting with the gang some distance away, and the fish got away when I got to my rod. Heavy rain halfway through the fishing. The kids beside me were landing leekoh non stop, even in the rain.

After the rain, bites were even slower. I landed a nice gold coloured leekoh on dedak, while the hotdog bait still hasn't had any takers. Near the end, I got a nice fat rohu on dedak too.

All in all, satisfied for landing a fat rohu, my first in quite some time, but not satisfied coz of the short time of fishing, and the heavy rain cut it even shorter. A rare pak kor visit for Jimmy, AC ate pak kor too, while TJS landed a few.

Fish Valley, 13 February 2011

CNY gathering and pot luck session. As usual, went to AC's place early in the morning so we can book the best shady place ( since Jimmy isn't around with his tent ). Reached around 7am only to see that the gates are still not open. Waited a few minutes, and the guard came and let us in.

Wasted no time rigging up, and the first cast was launched with buah keras. Second cast was launched after mixing dedak. TJS came abt 8am I think, with his gf. He set up at his haunt, TJS sprint. Landed fish but couldn't see since it's at a distance. My first fish landed at 9.20am on dedak. Took quite some time. A beautiful black carp.

No fishes landed worth taking pictures after quite some time eg tilapia, lampam and leekoh. Doc came with his wife at abt 10am. He left during lunch time and left a Shimana Ultegra fly reel as a prize for the person who land the biggest fish. Jason Kong came ( forgot what time. should have posted this blog earlier )

Jason's first major fish came at 3.40pm. A pacu.

Jeremy came at 2pm, bringing with him fried chicken and hotdogs. Late lunch commenced. Leftover hotdogs were used as bait. But I was the only one who successfully landed fish using them.

3 African catfish.

* Please look at the fishes and not my tummy.

Another black carp was landed on dedak in between those catfish. Actually I just released this black carp when the catfish decided to run with the bait. 2 fishes back to back managed to make me run out of breath.

* Jeremy as usual tumpang glemer when he hasn't got anything, yet

TJS weren't doing too bad at TJS Sprint.

A nice soon hock

7kg enormous patin

Jeremy got a leekoh near the end of the day, while Modena pak kor. I forgot how AC fared ( getting old )

My final tally for the day was 3 African catfish, 2 black carp, 2 lampam, 3 tilapia and 3 leekoh.

And yours truly got the reel

i-City 17 November 2010

Had dinner at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam courtesy of my brother. Along at the dinner was bro's gf, bro's gf's mother and sister. We had a roasted duck, and the roasted duck was turned into 3 dishes. First was roasted duck skin with something wrapped in omelette, second was fried with black pepper, third was fried with ginger and green onion. There were spinach soup, steamed fish and deep fried big prawns tossed with oats and pine nuts (OMFG delicious)

After dinner, we went to the lounge to relax while bro entertain customer who want to do food tasting for their upcoming wedding.

After all was sorted out, off to i-City. Nearing the place, can see all those fake illuminated trees along the road. At the entrance, need to pay RM10 per car to get in. By this time, the fake trees start to look pretty. Let the picture talk for themselves.

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, 12 - 17 November 2010

Somewhat late post, as the sale ended on the 17th November. The yearly book sale was back, and it was bigger than the previous one that I went to. I purposely took the 12th off, since the popular books were snapped up on the first day last year. So this time, I was determined not to miss out.

The sale was held at South City Plaza , Seri Kembangan. Reached there abt 9.10am, got a bit wet since it drizzled on they way. Not surprising, there were already people forming a queue. At least I was a shorter queue than last time (took 1 hour for me to get in last time)

Before the gates was open

By the time it was almost 10, the queue got so long. Was glad that I came early.

At 10am shard, the roller shutter were raised fully, and people were let in. Once I got in, got a box from the counter, went straight. Near the entrance, were stacks of Jefferey Archer's. Couldn't find any of his books at the last sale, so I 'tak kasi can' this time. Took all the titles that I don't have in my collection. At RM8 a book, it's at least 1/4 of the original price in a bookstore.

Went around looking for more books, saw my aunt and cousin there too, as well as my lady boss and her stepson. Before long, my box were full, and I had to leave my full box at Customer Service and get a new box.

Swarms of people

Saw Inkheart and Inkspell, took them, but couldn't find the third book, Inkdeath. Pretty disappointed. Went around looking for more interesting book. As I was browsing through some books, a lady asked whether I want Inkdeath, as she saw I had only 2 of the series. She mentioned that she couldn't find the other 2 book, so she gave me her copy of Inkdeath. Nice lady!!! I didn't mention that there were loads of the other 2 books to her (evil me), but I did thank her profusely.

It was almost 12.30pm when I start queuing with my lady boss. And gosh, the queue was so long, all 5 of them. Took like 30 minutes waiting to get to the end of the line. After paying, went for lunch with my lady boss and my aunt. Lady boss belanja paper wrapped chicken at a restaurant nearby. Went back home after lunch. To my lovely new books.

Can more or less guess how much I spent. Looks like instant noodles for the rest of the month for me.

Fish Valley, 7 November 2010

As usual, went to AC's house early in the morning before setting out to FV. Stopped for breakfast at mamak in town.

Reached abt 7am, parked at usual spot @ AC Bamboo Grove. Long story short, at the end of the day, between me and AC, we landed 23 fishes. Might seem a lot, but 20 of those were lampams. @#$%%^&. Final tally : AC with 2 liko, 1 carp, 14 lampam. Me: 1 liko, 15 lampam.

The couple sitting beside us got less fish, but more variety. Saw them land carps, 2 belida and lampam. 2 guys at jetty seem to get a lot of fishes too, but noticebly, a plabuk. They probably caught so many of those, they didn't even want to take pictures with the fish. They just rolled the poor fella back into the pond.

Paul Wong came in the afternoon to give 'moral support'. TJS came by too. and guess what. A plabuk took his lure again. But luck was not on his side today when the plabuk snapped his line 100m out. Lost his precious plabuk lure.

Modena and Nelson came late in the evening. being fanatics, they paid RM20 each to fish even though it's abt 2 hours to closing time.

At the end of the day, even though there's no big fish landed by us, it's still a fun day competing with AC to see who lands the most fish. And AC won by landing his liko right before closing. Cheat. ( i sore loser :D) No pics coz lampam fest
