i-City 17 November 2010

Had dinner at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam courtesy of my brother. Along at the dinner was bro's gf, bro's gf's mother and sister. We had a roasted duck, and the roasted duck was turned into 3 dishes. First was roasted duck skin with something wrapped in omelette, second was fried with black pepper, third was fried with ginger and green onion. There were spinach soup, steamed fish and deep fried big prawns tossed with oats and pine nuts (OMFG delicious)

After dinner, we went to the lounge to relax while bro entertain customer who want to do food tasting for their upcoming wedding.

After all was sorted out, off to i-City. Nearing the place, can see all those fake illuminated trees along the road. At the entrance, need to pay RM10 per car to get in. By this time, the fake trees start to look pretty. Let the picture talk for themselves.

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, 12 - 17 November 2010

Somewhat late post, as the sale ended on the 17th November. The yearly book sale was back, and it was bigger than the previous one that I went to. I purposely took the 12th off, since the popular books were snapped up on the first day last year. So this time, I was determined not to miss out.

The sale was held at South City Plaza , Seri Kembangan. Reached there abt 9.10am, got a bit wet since it drizzled on they way. Not surprising, there were already people forming a queue. At least I was a shorter queue than last time (took 1 hour for me to get in last time)

Before the gates was open

By the time it was almost 10, the queue got so long. Was glad that I came early.

At 10am shard, the roller shutter were raised fully, and people were let in. Once I got in, got a box from the counter, went straight. Near the entrance, were stacks of Jefferey Archer's. Couldn't find any of his books at the last sale, so I 'tak kasi can' this time. Took all the titles that I don't have in my collection. At RM8 a book, it's at least 1/4 of the original price in a bookstore.

Went around looking for more books, saw my aunt and cousin there too, as well as my lady boss and her stepson. Before long, my box were full, and I had to leave my full box at Customer Service and get a new box.

Swarms of people

Saw Inkheart and Inkspell, took them, but couldn't find the third book, Inkdeath. Pretty disappointed. Went around looking for more interesting book. As I was browsing through some books, a lady asked whether I want Inkdeath, as she saw I had only 2 of the series. She mentioned that she couldn't find the other 2 book, so she gave me her copy of Inkdeath. Nice lady!!! I didn't mention that there were loads of the other 2 books to her (evil me), but I did thank her profusely.

It was almost 12.30pm when I start queuing with my lady boss. And gosh, the queue was so long, all 5 of them. Took like 30 minutes waiting to get to the end of the line. After paying, went for lunch with my lady boss and my aunt. Lady boss belanja paper wrapped chicken at a restaurant nearby. Went back home after lunch. To my lovely new books.

Can more or less guess how much I spent. Looks like instant noodles for the rest of the month for me.

Fish Valley, 7 November 2010

As usual, went to AC's house early in the morning before setting out to FV. Stopped for breakfast at mamak in town.

Reached abt 7am, parked at usual spot @ AC Bamboo Grove. Long story short, at the end of the day, between me and AC, we landed 23 fishes. Might seem a lot, but 20 of those were lampams. @#$%%^&. Final tally : AC with 2 liko, 1 carp, 14 lampam. Me: 1 liko, 15 lampam.

The couple sitting beside us got less fish, but more variety. Saw them land carps, 2 belida and lampam. 2 guys at jetty seem to get a lot of fishes too, but noticebly, a plabuk. They probably caught so many of those, they didn't even want to take pictures with the fish. They just rolled the poor fella back into the pond.

Paul Wong came in the afternoon to give 'moral support'. TJS came by too. and guess what. A plabuk took his lure again. But luck was not on his side today when the plabuk snapped his line 100m out. Lost his precious plabuk lure.

Modena and Nelson came late in the evening. being fanatics, they paid RM20 each to fish even though it's abt 2 hours to closing time.

At the end of the day, even though there's no big fish landed by us, it's still a fun day competing with AC to see who lands the most fish. And AC won by landing his liko right before closing. Cheat. ( i sore loser :D) No pics coz lampam fest
